 Week of 10/30-11/3

October 27, 2023

Math:  This week scholars will review adding and subtracting decimals. Then, they will begin reviewing word problems involving decimals.

Science: Scholars will be quizzed over what we have been reviewing about energy and light.

Literature: This week scholars will practice characterization of multiple characters in a story.

Grammar/Writing: Scholars will practice writing 2-level, 3-level, and key word outlines.

History: We will explore the Renaissance through England. Scholars will have the opportunity to show what they know about Renaissance cities.

Reminders:

- Scholars will receive study guides one week prior to a test with the expectation that they are completing it over the course of the week. Scholars will NOT receive study guides for quizzes but should review their notes each night in order to best engage with the content.

 Week of 10/23-10/26

October 20, 2023

Math:  This week scholars will continue working on division problems resulting in 2- and 3- digit quotients with an assessment on Wednesday. They will then begin dividing with decimals.

Science: Scholars will learn how to classify matter based on physical properties .

Literature: This week scholars will practice sequencing events of a story.

Grammar/Writing: This week students will practice the analysis and diagramming of prepositional phrases.

History: We will explore the role of Venice in the Renaissance, learn about Michelangelo’s art, and look at some important texts written at this time.

Week of 10/16-10/20

October 10, 2023

Math: Scholars will develop proficiency in division, working their way up to 3-digit quotients and using estimation to help the process. 

Science: Scholars will continue to cover the properties of matter. Scholars will begin their study Guide for Science. 

Literature: Scholars will continue to learn figurative language as well as study the Yorkshire dialect from The Secret Garden. 

Grammar/Writing: Scholars will begin memorizing prepositions and learn to analyze/diagram prepositional phrases. 

History: Scholars will begin their study of the Renaissance by learning about the causes of the Renaissance and specific study of three Italian Renaissance cities.
